Hong Kong with the Perkins

At the tail end of our trip we had the opportunity to visit one of the Booth's close family friends the Perkins. Graham and Tara are our dear friends who not only flew from Hong Kong to Seattle for our wedding, just for the weekend, but who we also consider our "god parents" in marriage (Filipino tradition). The Booths meet the Perkins while living in the Philippines over 14 years ago.....they have known Jamie since he had a squeaky voice at the age of 14!

We took a 20 minuet ferry from the main island to Discovery Bay or what I like to call "Magic Island." Magic Island is literally the PERFECT community for families. No cars are allowed, just golf carts and shuttle buses! And it is the perfect mix, not all expat families but a mix of Chinese and expats....perfect for the kids to be able to further there language education!

Graham and Jamie

LOVE the Perkin's golf cart, decorated with full Canadian Pride. Apparently Graham used to tie the Canadian Flag on the cart so that when he drove around it has it's cape flying in the wind

When we docked, we were greeted by Graham and his two incredibly smart and witty kids, Grace (9) and Greg (7). We only had a short time so we toured the community (think modern red bricks in a courtyard full of restaurants, pubs, and doctor offices). Then sat and enjoyed a yummy Italian dinner to catch up. It was fantastic to be able to see Graham, Tara unfortunatlywas home sick with the bug so we were unable to see her, but it was wonderful to catch up! Gracie and Greg are quite the kids, spending the first 3 years of there schooling in full Mandarin, I hope that our kids someday will pick up as languages too!

Thanks Graham, Grace and Greg for the wonderful hospitality, we look forward to seeing you all soon!!
